Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf made the remark in a message to 5th International Congress of Arbaeen Cultural Activists, held in the holy city of Mashhad on Wednesday.

He said the Arbaeen procession is a magnificent manifestation of the Husseini culture, and a great legacy that, in light of the inherent nature of the human gathering of Arbaeen, conveys the message of freedom, justice, unity, resistance and human dignity to the world.

“The distinctive feature of this great epic is its popular nature; a conscious, spontaneous and responsible presence that reflects the depth of faith, social solidarity and cultural capital of Muslim nations,” he stated.

Ghalibaf added that Arbaeen is a manifestation of the people’s role in preserving religious and revolutionary values and rituals and an inspiring model for today’s society.

He also described Arbaeen as a great university for educating a faithful, aware and responsible person, a unique opportunity for the identity formation of the young generation for cultural elites to play a role in this process and a deeper connection of the country’s educational system with the teachings of Ashura.

Arbaeen can help strengthen social cohesion, deepen Islamic identity, and present a dignified and unifying image of the Iranian nation in the international arena, he added.

Intelligent use of cultural, artistic, educational, and media capacities of Arbaeen is an undeniable necessity in this direction, Ghalibaf stated.

“I would like to express my gratitude to all the dear people involved and servants of this passionate humanitarian movement and those responsible for organizing this meeting and congress. I hope that with your efforts and initiative and the servants of the Husseini culture, the message of Ashura and Arbaeen will be promoted as widely and effectively as possible, in accordance with the language and needs of today’s generation.”
